Las Vegas' Sacred Arts Circle:
|
The circle is body, mind, and spirit made visible. It is the physical expression of community relationships. It is a microcosm of life. Drum and Dance Meditations is a social/emotional/spiritual practice that uses participatory movement and sound to focus and alter consciousness. The goal is to enhance our relationships to self, other, and the environment by transforming the context for engagement and interaction. By releasing pressures and expectations, participants are empowered to discover the infinite possibilities of relationship that exist outside the boxes of conventional life. Utilizing chanting, song, spoken word, eclectic movement, and percussion instruments of all types, each individual has the opportunity to discover new ways of merging their personal expression with the group. Participants often begin this process by simply coming and witnessing intently, beginning their meditation by discovering the meditation itself. We have found that the experiences and insights that we gain in the circle enhance relationships throughout our lives. We have also discovered that people commonly underestimate their ability to be a positive creative force. Drum and Dance Meditations offers a vehicle for accessing and nurturing these powers. Please be aware that Drum and Dance Meditations is not a Drum Circle. Long term participants in Drum and Dance Meditations naturally become an integral part of the regular practice. The creativity and connection of the circle deepens, and the potential for moments of extraordinary clarity, ecstasy, and connection multiply. In order to foster the intimacy of these gatherings, new people are sponsored by existing participants. If you are interested in exploring Drum and Dance Meditations and you don't have a sponsor, please contact Joshua or Deborah. You will also want to read more about the structure and process of the Sacred Arts Circle. Drum and Dance Meditations began in Boulder, Colorado, in 1998, and is the origin seed for the more general model of Sacred Arts Circles that have begun to take root accross the country. Be sure and check the Schedule for the date and time of the next meditation. In truth, one can never be fully certain what Drum and Dance Meditations will bring. Each circle, like each day, is a journey. To practice drum and dance meditations is to engage in this musical dancing adventure with mindful intent. Bring your drums and percussion toys, your poetry or spoken word, clothing that is comfortable to move in, and an intention to share your inspiring energy. Although we encourage each person to step out and push their own limitations, there is no pressure to perform or expectations to live up to. The circle is the safest of places. We come together in a spirit of discovery and delight. We look forward to sharing the circle with you. Location: The Rhythmtree is located Near the Las Vegas Wetlands Park!
